Sonja was the only person I wanted photographing my wedding and I’m so incredibly grateful that she did. As a photographer myself, I wanted someone who I felt like would capture all of our littlest moments. She’s insanely easy to plan with and she has such a fabulous eye for great compositions. We live in the Galena, IL area, and I recommend her to everyone near and far. Her smile is infectious and her cool calm personality made the day less stressful. I’ve known her since college and had a comfort level already established, but my husband loved her the minute he met her too. Don’t hesitate to book this artist!
I recently had a mini mom and kiddo session with Sonja...It was an awesome opportunity to have a photo session with her. It was a beautiful day at lapham peak for the shoot. She made the day fun and easy after a run in with some burrs on our nature walk. She got an amazing photo with just the right light during the sunset. It was totally worth it! She even got the 4 most precious pictures of my 2 year old son belly laughing. He is quick on the move so that’s a big accomplishment! When the package arrived in the mail it was so cute! From the burlap wrapped pictures to the box the zip drive came in; it had all the perfect little touches. It was a great experience and I can’t wait to work with Sonja again. I would definitely recommend her!!
Sonja worked with me through a succession of e-mails and phone calls to plan a morning around Milwaukee in which that moment was made possible. She asked thoughtful questions about how we enjoyed our time together as a family, what colors we connect with, and how we interact as a family. Though I did not always understand how these questions would translate into great family photos, Sonja was engaged and confident throughout the process. The photos speak for themselves. She was able to take the information we gave her, work with an energetic two year old, and capture in the length of our session exactly how we come together as a family emotionally and visually. We ended up with fantastic shots of the three of us on a beautiful morning next to the lake and city we love. As the holidays approach we are having trouble deciding which one of the many to send out to friends and family. I have recommended Reverb Photography to other family members and can only say that they feel the same way about the care and results they received in the form of sessions and prints.
Sonja came to Mexico with us for our wedding last November. It was an untraditional sort of wedding shoot, but she was amazing. She was in the room with plenty of time to capture all the important moments with the bridesmaids and myself, along with the details of the dress, shoes, flowers, etc. When it came time for the ceremony, the pictures were breathtaking. We had to accommodate a lot of pictures post ceremony, in a very short time due to the sunset, but she kept everyone on task and made sure we had fun in the process. Once the pictures were edited, we received a cute little package with a flash drive and I was blown away. The pictures really were amazing and truly captured so much emotion of our special day with not only each other, but our closest family and friends. I am SO happy Sonja was able to capture our wedding and she did an absolutely amazing job.
I met Sonja in college and through 2 1/2 years of crazy antics, I came to know her as a fun loving, free spirit who is able to find the most joy out of even the smallest moments. The minute I said “Yes” and began planning my wedding in 2011, I knew she was the only person whom I would trust with documenting the most special day of my life, as her first client I believe. She knew me inside and out and my pictures reflect that, capturing all the small moments that were the most important to me and breaking free of the wedding poses that I hated so much and having with our group shots. From the moment the day started, Sonja was by my side documenting all the little things that I would soon forget in the blur that is a wedding day. An unfortunate incident with some undercooked chicken caused my wedding to have some very special, awful in my eyes, moments that involved me having to rush to the restroom about every 30 minutes. If I had had a photographer who had only known me for a short time I believe this would have been a truly awful experience but with the personal connection Sonja and I had, she not only documented all the moments I missed out on but was able to help me find the humor in my sickness. At one point, before getting to the reception, I remember sitting in the passenger seat of my car with my dress hiked up to my knees, drinking a bottle of water and feeling very sorry for myself. Sonja walked up, called my name, and snapped my picture, saying “One day you will laugh about this and we should document it.” It turns out, whenever I see that picture, I do laugh out loud at the ridiculousness of having food poisoning on my wedding day. Throughout the night, she continued to crack jokes and make me laugh which helped me realize I could still have a good time and somehow, while dancing her heart out with our college friends, she was still able to get some of the most captivating pictures of the night. The shot that is the most treasured of mine is during the traditional anniversary dance, she was able to capture a moment with my husband and I dancing while bordered by each of our parents dancing together. This photo alone made booking her for my wedding priceless. Today, almost 4 years later, every time I see my wedding photos I am transported back to that day and it is because of Sonja’s pictures and artistic eye that my memories are so beautifully documented. If you are on the fence about a photographer, get off the fence and book her, you won’t regret it!
